We have been asked to assist in helping 3 needing families this year...

As you all know the Wittkes are serving an inner city mission, but what you may not know is that they are serving in a ward that needs some of our help.  There are 3 families that are not going to have a Christmas unless we assist them.   There is 14 kids between these three families.  If you still would like to donate to the Wittkes inner city ward we are still taking cash or please call Jennifer Peacock  for a specific item to purchase....801-512-6500.

Sage Peacock (one of our young women) is going to be helping to head this project as one of her goals in young women.   So if she answer the phone she can assist you too!!

We would like to "wrap" (heehee) this project up by next week, have all items purchase but not wrapped to the Peacock home 781 E Corner Ridge, by December 17.

Thank you!!
Merry Christmas!!

Missionary Service Project

Thank you to all who came and helped with the Humanitarian project at the stake center last week.  Also a huge thank you to those who donated and made this event possible.

Women's Conference

Here are those thoughts promised from Women's Conference.  After such an amazing October General Conference session may we continue to immerse ourselves in the words and testimonies shared.

"Every part of the Women's Conference last week was so uplifting. I particularly loved the video clips of all the women bearing testimony of the power of the temple in their lives. What a joy to see how the temple is blessing women all over the world.

Two comments that really inspired me:

"The best way to strengthen a home is to keep covenants."  - Linda K. Burton

"Where much is required, much more is given."  - Neill Marriott

We are so blessed to have the opportunity to be strengthened and lifted by all the General Conference broadcasts. They are like a vaccination every six months to help us survive and conquer the ills of the world!"

Thoughts and Prayers

Please join us in supporting those in our ward/area who need support from heaven.

Tracie Peterson's daughter Katie gave birth to twins on Tuesday.  Heston and Haizlee joined the world 7 weeks early.  They just got off oxygen a few hours ago and will be in the NICU for 4-7 weeks.
Their 4 pound little bodies need all the help they can get!

Sheri Deiner will be having surgery tomorrow and could use our support and prayers.

Christine Miller was in an accident last week and has a long road of recovery ahead.  Our love and prayers will bless her life.

Thank you for your willingness to serve and think of others.  We appreciate your efforts and have seen many miracles as a result.

Cooper White this morning!

Jana White post on Facebook reads......."Yesterday and this morning. Not as swollen as the initial injury but pretty swollen and painful. This time he is very aware. He did ok during the night with a regular schedule of morphine and not changing positions. Oh how we wish for Cooper that the next couple of days would fly by. "

Truth will remain

I loved this quote from chapter 10 of the Joseph Fielding Smith manual:
So far as the philosophy and wisdom of the world are concerned, they mean nothing unless they conform to the revealed word of God. Any doctrine, whether it comes in the name of religion, science, philosophy, or whatever it may be, if it is in conflict with the revealed word of the Lord, will fail. It may appear plausible. It may be put before you in language that appeals and which you may not be able to answer. It may appear to be established by evidence that you cannot controvert, but all you need to do is to abide your time. Time will level all things. You will find that every doctrine, every principle, no matter how universally believed, if it is not in accord with the divine word of the Lord to his servants, will perish. Nor is it necessary for us to try to stretch the word of the Lord in a vain attempt to make it conform to these theories and teachings. The word of the Lord shall not pass away unfulfilled, but these false doctrines and theories will all fail. Truth, and only truth, will remain when all else has perished.

Thanks for teaching on Sunday Nola, It was a great Lesson!!

Update on Cooper White....This is Great News!!

Jana White's update on Facebook........5 hours of surgery, 7-8 plates to hold the shattered bones together, two incisions---one inside his mouth, one above his eye in the eye lid---two punctures for screws and Cooper's face has been put back together. It was very shattered and about 1 inch displaced. He did not need to get his mouth wired shut but will be on a liquid diet for a couple of weeks. Good news, facial nerves etc. in tact. Bad news--he'll be pretty swollen and uncomfortable for several days. But it's fixed. 4-6 months from now he will have surgery to remove the plates . Just waiting to be able to go into recovery to see him. Thank you, thank you, thank you for all of the prayers and support. He will need them now as he continues to heal both emotionally and physically. Us too.

Please continue to keep them in your prayers!!

We Love you Cooper and White family!!

Sad to see you leave....

As most of you know and some of you do not, Brad and Lynette Jones have sold their home.  It is great for them but we as a ward will miss them.  We have some service opportunities with this move, they need some help packing some boxes.  If you are able to assist they need your help June 12 Thursday morning from 9am-12pm and/or June 13 Friday morning from 8am-10am.  The Jones will need to be out of their home by July 11.  We will surely miss this great family.

Prayers

For those of you who don't know my Mom, Suzanne Campbell, is in the hospital.  In 2010 doctors discovered a growth in her back.  Since it was benign and not growing they said to leave it alone and keep an eye on it.  It was too close to her spine to remove.  Within the past month her back pain had returned and caused her T-9 vertebrae to collapse.  She has been in excruciating pain for the past few days and is awaiting surgery.  They are planning the surgery within the next week or two after testing and mapping on Monday/Tuesday.  They have just barely been able to find the right amount of heavy pain medicine to keep her comfortable, which is a huge relief.  Plans change each day as to the best procedure for her.  She is in no danger of spinal damage which we are grateful for.  She is anticipating a long road to recovery so if you would keep her in your thoughts and prayers she would really appreciate it.

I was thinking of putting together a slideshow for her of the people she loves that are far away.  If you would like to send me a picture or short video expressing your love for her I'm sure it would really brighten up her day!  I'll compile them and bring them on my trip Wednesday, April 2nd.  If you could have them sent to me by Monday night at the latest that would be great! My email address is abigailbonney@gmail.com.

Thanks for your love and concern!

The Significance of the Sacrament

"The partaking of these emblems constitutes one of the most holy and sacred ordinances of the church."

How are you preparing for the sacrament each week?  What makes the sacrament meaningful to you?

It is impossible for weak mortals, and we are all weak, to fully comprehend the extent of the suffering of the Son of God.  We cannot realize the price He had to pay.

“For behold, I, God, have suffered these things for all, that they might not suffer if they would repent; but if they would not repent, they must suffer even as I; which suffering caused myself, even God, the greatest of all, to tremble because of pain, and to bleed at every pore, and to suffer both body and spirit; and would that I might not drink the bitter cup and shrink—nevertheless, glory be to the Father, and I partook and finished my preparations unto the children of men.” [D&C 19:16–19.]

...If we fully appreciated the many blessings which are ours through the redemption made for us, there is nothing that the Lord could ask of us that we would not anxiously and willingly do.

Faith and Repentance

Our lesson came from the Joseph Fielding Smith Manual, chapter 5, discussing Faith and Repentance.

President Joseph Fielding Smith taught, “The forgiveness of sins comes through faith and sincere repentance.”1 He said that “it is necessary, not merely that we believe, but that we repent,” and he also taught that when we perform good works in faith until the end, we will “receive the reward of the faithful and a place in the Celestial kingdom of God.”

To learn more about the teachings of President Joseph Fielding Smith on Faith and Repentance click on the link below.  There is also a link to a video suggested by the church's website about true repentance.

Pornography Conference

A letter was shared today in Relief Society inviting us to participate in the 12th annual Utah Coalition Against Pornography Conference.

"Pornography has devastating effects throughout society.  You can encourage change for good by becoming aware of the risks of pornography, understanding the solutions, and learning to talk openly about the issue.  The speakers are national leaders and local experts who will share insight into many aspects of this critical threat.  Don't miss this opportunity to become more informed and prepare to help others and speak up about the harm of pornography.  You are an essential part of the solution!" (selection from the website)

The conference will be held March 22nd, from 8:00 a.m. - 2:15 p.m. at the Little America Hotel.

Decisions for Eternity

Sunday's lesson was on the General Conference address titled "Decisions for Eternity," given by Elder Russell M. Nelson.  Attached is the link to the talk and a video that was shared.  We hope this message strengthens your testimony of the miraculous power and gifts that our bodies can provide in the divine plan we call mortality.
